EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

(Preferred)

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or counseling & three years of full time paid work experience with Adults, one of which needs to be in a adult residential facility and working directly with individuals with mental retardation or a developmental disability from an accredited college/university

(Minimum)

  • A baccalaureate degree in a Human Services Field & have at least one year working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities or a developmental disability from an accredited college/univeristy
  • Must be First Aid/CPR certified, and be MEDS certified and TOVA certified. Must pass background check & center registry check
DUTIES ( but not limited to):
  • Assists in developing service plans, objectives & methods necessary for providing effective treatment services to individual clients;
  • Maintains appropriate discipline in the care and supervision of clients and is responsible for the development & implementation of structured activities during assigned work hours;
  • Promotes good community relations and utilizes appropriate community resources;
  • Assists with counseling decisions concerning clients and with follow-thru on those decisions;
  • Participates in staff meetings, group activities essential for the operation of an effective program
  • Oversees assessments, service planning, staff scheduling and supervision
  • Works with individual and groups in specific skill areas as designated by the OWNER;
  • Provides, in the absence of the OWNER, the necessary implementation & supervision required in order to continue established and essential programming

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of life skills counseling techniques, basic residential procedures and appropriate intervention techniques with socially and emotionally maladjusted clients, knowledge of group process skills and group management skills, Must demonstrate a level of basic academic skills necessary to effectively perform the responsibilities of this position. Ability to creatively organize and implement a variety of supplemental programs for clients. Ability to work within a team model of management. Through previous life and work experiences, demonstrated ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to adults in the age range for which he/she shall be responsible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in a Human Services field from an accredited college (preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED (minimum)
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License
  • MUST have at least two years experience in working with adults with mental retardation/ intellectual disabilities.
  • Needs a minimum of intermediate computer skills & great verbal and written communication skills
  • Must pass a background check & central registry check.
  • MUST be able to work evenings & weekends
  • Must have or complete Medicaid Waiver training & be certified in CPR, first aid, medication and TOVA.




RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a safe and caring environment for the residents which will promote learning, self-development, and an overall healthy and positive lifestyle
  • Communicate with individual, manager, behavior therapist, doctors, Community Services Board representatives, family and/or private payer to ensure proper placement.
  • Provide direct supervision to residential counselors, interns and volunteers
  • Provide staff information and training regarding medical issues that impact residents
  • Administer medications to residents
  • Develop & implement staff schedules and monthly activity schedules
  • Submit all service-related documentation/reports to supervisor and interdisciplinary team of residents
  • Submit weekly billing
  • Plan and implement staff meetings at least once per month or as needed
  • Implement policies and procedures according to licensing guidelines
  • Be willing to travel for household goods shopping, individual appointments and MAR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in a Human Services field from an accredited college/university (preferred)

  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must or be able to be First Aid/CPR certified, MEDS certified, & TOVA trained
  • At least one year experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities and residential services
  • MUST work some weekends (Friday-Sunday)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement program policy and procedures in accordance with program regulations and guidelines
  • Assist with, teach and monitor residents' daily living activities, including but not limited to personal hygiene bathing, shaving, grooming, dressing, laundry, meal preparation and room care
  • Engage residents in social and leisure activities and assure the health and safety of residents
  • Attend and participate in ALL training and meetings
  • Provide routine household cleaning and maintenance
  • Transport & monitor residents on community trips

  • Prepares & serves meals according to posted menus and nutritional standards
